Ingleside at King Farm Hosts Poet Laureate
Former Maryland Poet Laureate, Linda Pastan, reads from her works of poetry October 29 at Ingleside at King Farm.
Pastan, a resident of Potomac, MD, has published more than 12 books of poetry and essays. Her many awards include the Dylan Thomas award, a Pushcart Prize, the Bess Hokin Prize from Poetry, the Poetry Society of America's Alice Fay di Castagnola Award, and the Ruth Lily Poetry Prize, in 2003. Two of her collections of poems were nominated for the National Book Award and one for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
She is known for writing short poems that address topics like family life, domesticity, motherhood, the female experience, aging, death, loss and the fear of loss, as well as the fragility of life and relationships.Read Full Entry

Language. It is one of the most powerful tools we, as humans, have at our disposal for survival. It is the thing that helps us detail to others our needs and desires, allows us to relay information, pass down culture to our offspring, make a powerful persuasive argument, interact with people from other parts of the world, and the list goes on and on. Ingleside at King Farm Leads Peace Walk at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park
